Thoughts and such

I don’t know about you but I love rainy days and its grassy smell.

The last quarter of the year is in fact my favourite coz that’s when the volume of rainfall collected is at its highest.

Speaking of the year’s last quarter, makes me realize that year 2010 is soon coming to an end. New year seemed to pass not very long ago and now Christmas is coming?

Days are passing crazily fast that I haven’t got the chance to slow down to take a good look at what’s happening around me.

At the beginning of this year, my rather close ex-colleague was happily announcing to us he is going to marry his gf of 5 years and was high-spiritedly in preparation for his wedding next January. Now less than 3 months away to his big day, his wedding suddenly was called off because he and his gf broke up… sadly involving the existence of a 3rd party. No it wasn’t my friend’s problem, it was his gf who chose an already attached rich guy over her 5 years long bf who has been paying for all their dates, vacations, wedding preps. No doubt my friend was heart-broken, feeling betrayed and disappointed totally but to me, I felt it was a blessing in disguise. I rather him suffer some monetary loss (wedding preparations that were paid for and done) now than having to go through divorce and even deeper emotion / monetary turmoils later on.

He didn’t lose anything, did he? In fact I think he gained instead by casting this unfaithful girl aside, who is not worthy of his love.

On the other hand, I heaved a sigh of relief because I no longer have to worry about how I’m going to attend two weddings on the same day.

My work is entering the peak season and it’s been not too bad these days, considering I’ve just passed 2 months. It was hell bad when I first started because everything was hands on training. There wasn’t really anybody to sit down with and to guide me. Then by first week, I was assigned tasks and I was expected to do / learn at the same time. Learning curve is sure steep and I spent much longer time trying to figure how to resolve work problems. I was forced to pick up fast and I guess now it pays off some how

Downside… I’m not travelling this December! It’s harder to take leave over here due to blocked off periods. and there, results the break in our consecutive family year trips.

I have a wedding journal!

I’m not exactly neglecting this space but I’m just too busy to have updates on my life eversince I started on my new job.

I actually beat the record of not switching on my pc for one week straight this week!!!

Nevertheless I have a wedding journal now which I guess I will update more often in there.

Too many backlogs.

Happy birthday to me!

“Hello world.”

The title must be familiar to some. It has to be, who could forget?? This is the phrase we learnt during the first c. programming lecture back in poly.

Such warm and fond memories.

Yup I’m back with updates! If you wish I’m no longer on earth, I’m sorry to disappoint you then. Hehe.

I just had a short holiday early this month and it was to one of my dream destinations – the Maldives. It was a well-deserved break away from the boss, work emotions and mess. Suz can’t help but asked me, “After this trip, where else can you go for your wedding honeymoon then?” I totally ignored her.

Latest update is that good news came by after my trip. I finally tendered resignation in my current job. I couldn’t be happier. It’s like I finally broke out free from prison or something. If your house’s roof is leaking and you know not even the head of the house is going to ever mend it, you just got to let go and move on. “We all got to think for ourselves in due time”, the exact words I told my boss that day I tendered.

Yup, I’m moving on after 2.5 years. I hope that in the next company, I would be able to commit for a much longer time. It’s really a chore going for interviews, taking leaves for them. Like for this new job I’m taking up, I took 4 half days (3 rds of interviews + 1 time to sign offer letter). I guess it’s all worth it at the end of the day!

One thing to note is that the more companies you were with, indicated on your resume, the more troublesome it is having to explain in your future interviews what you did for each role. You have to remember what you did even from your first job and honestly I’m not very young to remember that kind of details anymore you know.

Anyway a load off my chest for now while I serve my remaining notice period!!!

We stayed at Centara Grand resort, which is a 40 mins flight from Male.

Free flow of food (buffet style every meal, with different themes everyday), free flow of drinks (alcohols inclusive), I put on a good 3kgs which I’ve yet to shed eversince.

I’m quite scared of buffets for now.

Basically, everyone (resort personnels or guests) at the resort thought we were from China. They cannot differentiate us asian chinese. Some thought we were japanese while most think we are China chinese. Surprisingly, there were alot of guests from China and of course we do recognize we are not each other’s counterparts. On the island resort itself, we seem to be the only Singaporeans. So when we were asked where we were from, everyone was surprised to hear we are from Singapore. The caucasian guests assemble together, the China chinese guests assemble together whereas we are the only two lonely Singaporeans. We also seem to be the only guests who came as friends. Everyone else is either with their family with kids or couples. :X

I’ve enjoyed the good amount of sky and sea views which Singapore is lack of. However, being a city girl I got bored on the 3rd day.

The service there is first class, every waiter/waitress speaks to you, even the room maid. Wherever you walk around and if any of the staff see you, they will greet you. Their staffs are of calibre that I don’t even think I can qualify to be a waitress there!

The first time I watched a world cup match full-time…

Was last night. The one – Holland VS Brazil. The atmosphere was lively, a war albeit a friendly one broke up between the 2 different groups of supporters and that cracked me up througout.

The first half of match was an ultimate boredom of foul plays but the 2nd half I was rooting for a status quo when Holland scored their second goal! And another goal from Holland could have been better.

What a relief.

I bet on Holland to win but my smaller bet on total 4 goals was goner.

HH won both of his bets! Lucky shit.

Post-match, HH and me left early while Eunice and Anfernee continued to “da” drinks to cover their losses on their bets on a draw.

Here’s what it is.

This has become an occassional update.

When life gets too busy, with too many things at a go, there isn’t a focus point that you wanna talk about.

And because life gets too packed with stuffs, time moves on fast too. For eg, what happened 5 years ago seemed so yesterday.

The years ahead felt scary but yet am curiously looking forward to it.

It felt like the time of the year again where people doing job hopping and now I’m in the midst of following the “trend”. Yup I do feel it’s time to move on after spending 2.5 years here. The work load is piling heavier than ever and the thing that sucks is the lack of manpower and probably team spirit too. What are you to do when your boss is soooo taking his own sweet time employing in new staffs? Speaking to us individually a few times checking on our ability to cope with the work wouldn’t change the fact that we are indeed short-handed. Well, I guess he was trying very hard to hope to hear what he wants to hear. He piles on our workload unneccesarily and yet hope we can remain status quo on our efficiency or better it. Oh well, like whatever. I couldn’t care less anymore.

Happier things, we are already planning on our wedding. Date’s been picked and it will be end of next year

After knowing that the modern singaporean couples are seriously so kiasu these days, we have to beat them out! Especially for wedding venues. Our date is on a saturday and to our amazement, quite a couple of our shortlisted hotels already been booked on our date, even though it’s like 1.5 years away! How not to get our acts up together and be fast?

Booking a wedding venue is quite a headache actually. You have to start considering your expected no. of guests and then to find a venue which fits in your requirement and rather you fitting in their minimum capacity or the maximum. Then you go down to view the place and the menu before you decide to commit to “Yes this shall be the ideal place!”

And well… we are glad to be done with that and just paid our deposit for it a few days ago.

Here are the stuffs we are done and booked with:

1. The wedding date and venue

2. Bridal studios (We have booked with two actually, meaning we are having 2 pre-wedding bridal shoots. Long story why but we are not regretting.)

3. Actual wedding day photography (We wanted a relatively skilled photographer to document  those moments on that day)

What we are basically left with will be the actual day videography and make up artist for us.

Wedding is definitely an expensive affair in Singapore but we are definitely enjoying the process for now

Aside from all, I’m in need of a vacation!!! Weekend getaways not counted so I can only continue to countdown to my next coming one in August. It will be just Suz and I to one of our dream destinations!

With a convincing white lie that he had to work that day, I believed him.

He still called me during his “lunch hour” and gossiped about his colleagues. He then told me he would be able to come by to send me to my ex-colleagues dinner gathering after his work.

I was puzzled when he drove me back to his home carpark since we were supposed to be heading towards town and his reason was because he wanted to head home to change into something light as the weather was killing him.

I told him I’ll wait in the car but he said he needed my help to carry some stuffs home from the boot for his dad. I was reluctant because he has never ever asked me to help him to carry stuffs.

He opened the boot and told me to go to the back while he was as though looking for something still in the driver’s seat.

He then turned quite uneasy when I didn’t “automatically” walk to the back of the car. He had to usher me to the boot in the end…

I didn’t see this one coming THIS soon.

You have guessed it, he spent his half day preparing for this moment, it was so funny when he told me how hard he was trying to keep the balloons in, they kept springing out…

The ring which took him quite a while in search for his triple excellence or whatever ideal stone with terms I have never heard before, with the setting fully customized. But I tell you, I like the cherry wood box more! Classic.

I got speechless and the ring was just slipped onto my finger. (A li’l tight I must admit, fat finger sorry.) I haven’t even said yes leh! It was a bit rushy coz he had to send me down to meet my ex colleagues.

With that, had both of our status changed.

Honestly we both had applied for a BTO late last year already but HH wanted to make official one fine day.

After all we had our fair share of ups and downs throughout these 8 and half years. We broke up, we made up and I definitely reminded myself from then on to believe what I believe and not get brainwashed by others’ hearsays. Every hurdle we crossed made our relationship stronger, never been better.

It’s kind of unbelievable and a little foreign to have a new tag to myself now. I don’t even feel this way when we signed on the HDB papers.

My little cheena cousin who was back for a week’s holiday. Her thick Chinese accent is cuteness.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

I got the Diary of a Wimpy Kid book collection last christmas for myself and I had a good laugh throughout all 3 books.

I never expect that they would come out with a movie of it! Gregory is a really unintentionally funny boy who unfortunately has a selfish elder brother, Roderick and a terribly spoilt baby brother, Manny.

Catching the movie laters, like finally.. I know how long ago the movie was out.

I hope they do feature the cheese touch.

Crossroad II

More or less, you know which direction to head.

Such a huge sign hanging over your head, how would one not know?

To open the gate in that direction or not is yet another tough decision to make because you are unsure if you are able to survive beyond.
